Caring for Cotton

Cotton is an extremely versatile material

Stain Removal

Coffee stains

Either rinse the stain immediately with lukewarm water or carefully apply glycerine to it. Then wash normally.

Carrot stains

If you expose the stain to strong sunlight, it will cause the brownish spot to bleach.

Fruit and ink stains

Dab the stains with alcohol (90%) and wash as normal.

Grease and oil spots

Sprinkle talcum powder on the spot and leave it overnight. Talcum absorbs the grease from the fabric, and you should be able to simply shake it off. Repeat if necessary, then wash as normal.

Make-up and sun-lotion stains

For stains on cotton or linen textiles use a mild bleaching solution and then rinse out.

Perfume stains

Carefully clean delicate textiles immediately using benzene.

Sweat stains

For stains on cotton and linen textiles, add two spoonfuls of salt to the water and wash as normal.
